Down The Shore With Alli & Erica
Geeze, nobody did a parody of one those Philly.com beach girls so Philadelphia Weekly had to do it ourselves. Watch serious journalists Alli and Erica explore the beaches of Ocean City. Fantastic job, girls.

Rendell On Clinton
Here's Ed Rendell, talking about Hillary Clinton dropping out of the race over the weekend. Meh. It's not as good as Eagles analysis from the governor, I can tell you that.

Poetic: Hippies Shut Down South Street
Here's a bunch of protesters at Saturday's Global Cannabis March down South Street. "THC, Fine by me!" was apparently this year's chant du jour. The best sign I saw in there was "Hey America, let's blow this joint: Liberate marijuana!"
And, yes, I'm still blogging at Drug Roar with the green and the pot logo and the hey hey. This week's column is about criminalization of salvia divinorum (and other drugs) as a tool of first resort. It turned out okay.

'PW' Chatted With The Losers!
PW's Alli Katz was apparently not as tired of the election as I was and lugged a video camera all across the city yesterday, including the Famous 4th Street Deli. There, she
interviewed Anne Dicker and Johnny Doc, who both lost to Larry Farnese in the First District Senate Race. What a sad video!
She also got video of Obama at Pat's (of course) and a near-riot of Obama and Clinton supporters outside City Hall, putting my work ethic to shame.

PW On The Election
Here's a PW video from West Philly asking people about whatever is going on today. (An election of some sort?) And Steven Wells listens to right-wing talk radio all day, including the show of Bill Bennett, who still has a job somehow.
There will be more on the PW front page all night.

Ha Ha, Kids Who Can't Vote For Obama
Everyone knows Barack Obama is popular with the kiddies. "He's their KFC JFK!" the adults say, and they are probably right. But some of these people are so young they will not even be able to vote for President Obama for re-election in 2012, except in their mock elections -- and by then they will want to vote for Ron Paul anyway. (For mayor, they'll be voting for Larry West.)
PW reporter extraordinaire Alli Katz interviews some kids who support Barack Obama but won't be able to vote for him next week. Ha ha, stupid kids! What can Obama do for them -- they don't even drive! (As the commercials tell us, Obama will stand up to the oil companies with his giant gun of hope.)
Hillary Clinton immediately called for the punishment of these children by taking away their violent video games.

Favorite Cartoons Fight Fraud
Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett went on
Good Day Philadelphia yesterday to talk about an investigation, but also made sure to note that on whatever fraud website he was investigating, his crack team of investigators was using names like "Batman" and "Spider-man" and "my favorite, Wile E. Coyote." Whoo!
Video after the jump.

Fresh Princes Of Protesting
Eventually, all the people (like me, only less lazy) who had been online nonstop since the early-to-mid 1990s were going to realize they could easily use it to prank people in the real world. They did, and it was good, but eventually they realized they could use it to organize for things they cared about in the real world. And, lo and behold, we had the second real world protest of Scientology over the weekend all over the world, including right here in Philadelphia.
Intrepid reporter Alli Katz captured these Anonymous people rapping against Scientology's tax breaks. Excellent all around.
Update: There's now a full video and story up on PW's website.
Update 2: OMG is Will Smith a Scientologist?!

WawaTF, People: The Vigil Video
Intrepid Reporter Alli Katz -- yet
another PW employee whose talent I am consistently jealous of -- went out to film the
Wawa Vigil last night.
The results are up there with Mascot Monday and Milton Street's casket jam. WawaTF, indeed.
Truly, a lamentable loss for the community. There is a Flickr series here done by djstarr as well. We will never forget.

TV Show Solves All Your Dating Problems
Erin O'Hearn's weekly "Right Now On The Net" feature has showcased Brad Maule's work on Phillyskyline and, last night, it showcased... online dating! This whole segment is worth is just to see the awkward interaction between Jim Gardner and O'Hearn at the end.

This Will Make Someone Shut The Duck Up
Four. That's the current number of emails you have to send to me in order to get something posted on this website. (Subject to change.) I know, a six-minute Internet video is a bit too long for my ADD-riddled brain, but I was finally able to get through it -- man, blogging has ruined my brain -- and it was pretty good. Especially the part where the main guy goes, "Honestly, if you like the ducks, I don't like you."

Here's CBS 3's clip of hot hot hot presidential primary action, including a recap of big news that Joe Biden dropped out of the race, a move nearly 100 percent of political nerds saw coming. Also, I left in the hot current story about Dr. Phil visiting Britney Spears.

CBS 3: Text Messaging Could Be Used To Cheat
Apparently looking to out-do NBC 10's 4:20 investigation, CBS 3's Susan Barnett lets us know about a new fad: text messaging! She reports text messaging leaves "little or no record" of the conversation. Speech and phone calls do leave records, apparently.

First Video Of Tommy The Loan Shark In Action
Scientists announced today they have captured the first known video of Tommy the Loan Shark, the creature that has been terrorizing Tom Knox since April 4. One of the rarest of species, scientists hope to be able to analyze this video and find new clues about loan sharks in the coming weeks. This video confirms, apparently, the species does exist. Maybe we can catch it again sometime.

Reminder: Daylight Savings Time!
This Sunday, everyone has to move their clocks back an hour. It's three weeks early this year, which has people going nuts and acting as if the world is going to end. Which, I suppose, it probably will.
As such, I'm going to show you this old film (hat tip to RJ) to explain how to stop the menace of early Daylight Savings Time. This is from before DST started, but it should provide some explanations of why we need to stop this before it gets worse.

Yorkie Will Claim The #1 Spot Before Armageddon
While watching the dog show last night, the sideline reporter -- of course the dog show has a sideline reporter! -- did a feature on the most popular dog breeds. While the Labrador Retriever is the top breed in the country by a wide margin, the Yorkshire Terrier moved into the number two spot this year. And then... a prediction of doom.
Yeah, I'd say there's a good shot the most popular dog breed in the country might change before the end of time.

Two Men Leap Off Comcast Center
See that blurry screencap at right? Well that's footage of somebody
base jumping off the Comcast Center, CBS 3 reports. (Or "Comcast Tower," as CBS 3 calls it. I also love the way it's introduced: "One of the latest 'buzz' videos on YouTube..." and "Do not try that." "No. No. Not at all.")
The video is nowhere to be found on the 'Tube right now, but CBS 3 has some of the video. Early Sunday morning, two enterprising people snuck into the Comcast Center, and jumped from what appears to be 20 stories up to the ground outside that corner bakery around there. Obviously, if the cops find 'em, they'll be charged with tresspassing, etc.
But from everyone else, they can simply expect an award of awesomeness for base jumping off the Comcast Center.

Tackling The Eagles Defense (Not Like They Could Do It)
Last night, the Eagles squeaked out come-from-behind win -- hey, they didn't blow it this time! -- over the Carolina Panthers, 27-24, improving their record to 6-6 and moving them into the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.
The coverage of the game focused mainly on three things -- Rocky Balboa, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and how a couple Eagles fans booed when it looked like A.J. Feeley was going to come in and then didn't. (The announcers acted as if two fans had just stabbed Jeff Garcia in the nuts, then proceeded to talk about how all this A.J. Feeley talk inspires Garcia to improve his performance. Shouldn't fans be booing all day then?)
Although the Eagles won last night, the defense still left a little -- okay, a lot -- to be desired. And, as such, I've recapped the defense's performance in the following video (and, yeah, some of these are nitpicky, shush):
Hey. Missed tackles or not, a win's a win. Now go beat Washington next week, please?

Wayward Deer Causes Havoc In Western Pa.
There is a lot going on in Western Pennsylvania nowadays. While they don't have the excitement of a rising murder rate or a brand new public toilet, it's not like there's nothing going on!
For example, a family in Pittsburgh had its nativity scene stolen. And also in our fair neighbor to the west, a doggy jumped off a bridge and survived.
And then there's the tale of the deer who couldn't get out of the warehouse.
Note: This video apparently also features a cameo from Phillies relief pitcher Rick White.
