Redlasso Shuts To Bloggers

Thanks to some lawsuits, Redlasso has closed to bloggers just in time to not have the International Olympic Committee drop a bomb on the company’s headquarters or something. On the plus side, thousands of browsers now longer have to fear crashing when they load a blog.

Great Wawa Massacre Of 2008 Continues

Johnny Goodtimes is reporting that the Wawa at 20th and Chestnut is closing at the end of the month. I’m too lazy to walk five blocks down to see if there’s a sign up or anything, but let’s just assume it’s true.

And let’s assume this is true also: He writes all the Center City Wawas will be leaving when their leases are up — even my beloved Jefferson Hospital location?! — and that Wawa hates us. Well, duh, they’re a business. But why just leave Center City?

Naturally, the twentysomething white people of in and around Center City will not be standing for this business decision travesty, and will no doubt be protesting for the rest of the year. Although 6 of 10 Center City Wawas have closed since 2000, 2/29 will forever be the official start of the Great Wawa Massacre of 2008.

Center City Wawa To Close

Noooo! Kirsten Henri reports the Wawa in the Dorchester is closing by the end of the week! Okay, so the one on Chestnut is about the same distance from the office, and it’s nicer… but by the end of the week, we’re going to have one fewer Wawa than we originally did.

Wawa spokesperson Laurie Bruce says there is no secret plan to close all the Wawas in the city limits without gas stations, despite the rumors. (But of course.) I have to believe the one at 10th and Walnut is safe. It better be, Wawa!

Protip: I usually go to The Foodery (10th and Pine) and the Serv-Rite Deli (10th and Locust) anyway, but neither are open 24 hours.

Forsberg To Colorado Avalanche

The Flyers have lost 11 straight. And, whoops, now Peter Forsberg is coming back to the NHL to play for Colorado.

Saying Goodbye To King Ron Paul

I’ve been infatuated with the Ron Paul campaign ever since hundreds of ads for him started popping up on certain Internet forums about how great The Libertarian Nightmare is. There are so many questions to ask about the Ron Paul Internet Phenomenon that there’s really nowhere to begin.

Sadly, last week Ron Paul pretty much dropped out of the presidential election in order to make sure he doesn’t lose his Congressional seat in Texas’ March primary. He’s going to stay in the race, technically, but even he’s realized he has no shot at this point. (Or, ever, but that’s another story.)

It’s not all bad news for Dr. Paul, though. As CBS 3 reported earlier this month, gold prices are booming! Yes, Ron Paul naturally has a lot of money in gold, consarnit, and CBS 3’s Susan Barnett let us know you can sell gold for hundreds of dollars right on Jeweler’s Row. Looks like the good doctor won’t be suffering without a legion of Internet spambots donating ridiculous amounts of money to him.

Goodbye, Ron. We can only hope the hilarity will continue; somehow, I think it might.

Nooooooooooo! The great Courier-Post Forums have apparently been closed. Although it’s simply part of a move to a newly-designed website for the C-P that launches tomorrow, one can only believe it just won’t be the same. Alas.
