Vince Fumo, Moving To Camera 2

Challenger Anne Dicker's camp sent over this ad for Vince Fumo's State Senate re-election bid yesterday, complaining that Fumo really hasn't done much for illegal guns on the streets. Fair enough.

But I believe the real beauty in this ad is, um, the ad itself. I didn't really notice how brilliant it was 'til it aired after Gladiators last night: Fumo serving the people dinner, the face of the dude at the kitchen table, the little head-tilt by Fumo at the end. Forget the State Senate, we need to get Vince Fumo a sitcom.

If I were Anne Dicker, I'd just show this ad on an infinite loop at one of her watering hole meetups; I can't see how a night of drinking and watching this ad over and over could do anything but increase attendance.

Okay, I Quit

This is apparently done in response to this thread about what three Philadelphians past or present you would invite to dinner, the difference being that, if you wanted to get dinner with Phillyblog posters, you could just ask them if they wanted to go to dinner and hope they say yes.

Light Conversation

Today is the one-year anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo, and, as such, newspapers have trotted out one-year anniversary articles to determine what it really means to us.

Fair enough. An article in the Bucks County Courier Times views the debate as one over a person's right to die, and begins like this (emphasis mine):

Terri Schiavo is gone, but the name of the woman who became a symbol of the right-to-die movement is alive in hospital hallways, lawyers' offices and church pews a year after her controversial death.

That is a good thing, people on both sides of the debate say.

"It is dinnertime conversation," said Janet Poland, director of risk management at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol Township and co-chair of its ethics committee.

Note to self: Don't go to any charity dinners organized by Lower Bucks Hospital.
