U.D. Police Now Taking Down Fliers

And then, NBC 10 tells us, he decided the police should take down speech he didn't like. He had his officers remove 268 of these stupid fliers originally put up by the Keystone State Skinheads. There were even different posters this time that said "North Philly coming to your town" up along with the other ones that said "Guns don't kill people -- dangerous minorities do."
Uh, yes: The police took down speech the police chief didn't like. Even though it was put up by annoying racist fucks who apparently think parodies on Family Guy are meant to be taken literally... really? If I put up anti-war on drugs posters in Upper Darby, will Mike Chitwood send the cops out to take them all down?
But enough of that near-seriousness. The NBC 10 report also contains perhaps my favorite sentence in a news report, ever:
The NBC 10 Investigators have been trying to contact the Keystone State Skin Heads to find out why they are posting the flyers.
Gee! What could the skinheads be possibly putting up racist fliers for?

From what I understood, the law in Philadelphia only bans fliers for commercial speech; political speech -- like a flier saying 'black people suck' or whatever -- would still be protected. (I'm not sure on this, lemme go look it up.)
In the grand scheme of things, it's not really a huge deal that the Keystone State Skinheads got their fliers taken down. But the idea of the chief of police seeing a flier of political speech he didn't like and ordering the cops to take them all down is a little... hmm... something.

You mean the KSS ran out of abandoned telephone boxes in Philadelphia that they had to go to UPPER DARBY?
So who was smoking weed out near the Tower for a Tool concert and decided "fuck yeah, we need to paper this place?"
Last time I looked in Upper Darby, it's more Koreatown than it is North Philly, at least the portion closest to the El.

I'd bet your some of those people who protested Geno's for having a sign that read "this is america order in english" Do the police go and take down flyers of a little girls lost cat? No, Its bull and in my belief an infringement on freespeech.

Well, few things:
1. Everyone has the right to say anything they want, no matter how much you may disagree with it.
2. Depending on what the law is in Upper Darby, the fact in Philadelphia is simple; You can't have a flyer up that isn't authorized by the city. If you do, it's a fine for whoever did it. If the law is the same in Upper Darby, then yeah, the cops have every legal right to take it down.
Fact of the matter is this; They have every right in the world to say this stuff, they have every right to hand out flyers personally that say it, but they have to go through the proper channels if they want to put it on telephones polls and stuff. Otherwise, it's a fine and removal of the sign.
