It is unbelievable that he got tossed almost twomonths after the incident. I have been a fan of his for some time and feel that CBS has really shit the bed on this one. I think back on the story of the ny mets letting Nolan Ryan go because they said he had great stuff but couldn't throw strikes. That's all Kidd chris did was display a level of talent that surpassed anything even comparable. He made something out of nothing and learned how to tip toe around the china shop and still managed to be hilarious. I would pay money to Sirius to listen to Kidd chris even though I think the show may lose something if it is uncencored. Preston and steve musth have been listening to podcasts to try to bury chris and managed to do it. Props to bob levy for hosting the birthday show and having some heart. CBS could use a heart and a penis for that matter as it is very obvious that their ovaries got the best of them on this one.

Kidd Chris was the best thing that happened to Philadelphia mornings since Howard first came here. I look forward to listening to him when he shows up at the next place. For Chris I will actually pay for a subscription to satellite radio...and I will never listen to another CBS radio station.

The execs at CBS have no backbone and they cave to fundamentalist pressure groups. The leadership there needs to take more risks. Not all risks are good, but the good ones do lead to real rewards. Chris should come back but he should add an African American female as a sidekick (in addition to Thomas of course). Okay ... I AM a soccer mom of 2 biracial girls and am definitely NOT a hater of the show. I loved listening on my morning commute -- I'm the crazy bitch driving down 276 laughing her her ass off. The a.m. show was an equal opportunity offender -- funny funny shit and ALOT of it was directed at my gender. So what --it was hilarious and I'm okay enough with myself to laugh and move on. If people are feeling a certain way because of something that was said (or sang in this instance) maybe they need to re-visit their self-esteem and get a life. It was a parody, get over it.

I haven't really listened to Kidd Chris since he switched to mornings. When he was on in the afternoons I'd listen- and I will be honest- the show gets old very quickly.
When it comes to comedy- no subject is off limits, race, religion, etc. When it comes to comedy the crass and the vulgar can be funny. Does anyone remember The SIDs (sudden infant death syndrome)? This cracked me up, and I'm sure it offended some people-and it was obviously done in jest, it was low brow, crass, vulgar- I laughed thinking about a little dead baby. It wasn't serious though.
The problem I have with some racist humor- is on the level of comedy- MOST of it actually isn't that funny. It's the same jokes, with the same punchlines, being recycled over and over and over again. Seriously- jokes about Black people eating watermelon and fried chicken are like 200 yrs old. Jokes about Thomas's "fat yellow face" and "blindfolding him with dental floss" are identical to jokes invented before world war 2. These jokes aren't even creative in my opinion- and the audience made them all the time. Frankly when I listen to a radio show I am looking for variety and ingenuity. I'd listen to all the base racist humor and laugh- not at the jokes, but at how fucking simple these morons found it to amuse themselves. I'd be in my car and say to myself "what a bunch of fools,these guys are just dumbass's"-that gave me a chuckle for what it's worth.

Foley may have hated working for CBS- but I really doubt he's going to get paid the remainder of his contract,and he won't win in court if he tries to fight for it. Nor will he work in terresterial radio again. What of the possibility of him getting picked up by stern? or satellite? Maybe- but satellite radio is proving to be an experiment that is failing. The funniest thing about all of this, is the fact that you guys don't realize what is happening to this country. Kidd Chris got fired for a "parody" song. It was meant to be a joke, sung as a joke, and written as a joke. The FCC was not involved in Kidd Chris being fired, nor was any other body or branch of the US Government. Had that been the case I certainly would defend Kidd Chris on principle. The First Ammendment in The Bill of Rights reads:

The controversy surrounding Kidd Chris happened outside the bodies of government regulation. The Kidd Chris Show was not censored by the government. Kidd Chris, working in the employ of CBS radio- had the right to say what he wanted without interference from the government. Ultimately, CBS also has a right to determine what kind of programming it want's to offer.

Private comedy clubs, Private broadcasters- have made decisions not to hire Chris Rock, or David Chappelle- and that is their right. Other private clubs and broadcasters have given them voice- which is their right. We are all protected by the first ammendment. It's only when the government starts stepping in that this right is infringed. It's the right of any private broadcaster to give kidd chris a job and a voice now- I certainly won't stand in the way if this happens.
Look- I've listened to the Kidd Chris Show for a long time. There was some entertainment value to it- though I was often turned off by the hateful racist attitudes of many of Kidd Chris's listeners. It was very clear to me- that the people making racist jokes and parody's- THEY REALLY BELIEVED WHAT THEY WERE JOKING ABOUT- just look at some of the post's here. I can not speak for Chris Foley's personal opinions on race- he was the host and as far as voicing opinion goes- for the most part he stayed neutral. His callers and guests were not so neutral. If you the audience wants to know who killed the Kidd Chris show, they should go look in the mirror- the audience killed the show.
And for what it's worth- I don't think the talentless listeners who recycled jokes about black people that have been around since before the fucking civil war added anything to the show.

Look at this. 20-days after the Kidd Show was yanked and we are still talking about it. Not bad. Where are the other conversations happening? Where are the groups of people wanting to unite to bring the Kidd Show back? Why is the MySpace not allowing posts? What about other message boards. Does Kidd Chris want us to shut up until he makes the next move and is legally allowed to say something? That's my guess.

Larry Menthe? I'm sorry but that makes me laugh. I liked the guy...only because of his airtime on the Kidd Chris Show. Too bad he got busted poking around in someone else's e-mail. Like who of us hasn't done that?

It's simple. The FCC has guidelines but the real power is with the consumers but the consumers are not speaking up...at least not enough. If you re a radio station and your livelihood depends upon advertising you will need to make sure that the advertisers are happy. The advertisers stay happy if consumers are responding to their ads. If they have ads on a controversial radio show then they may have "public interest" groups complain about their advertising support for the controversial radio show. If those who enjoyed and/or listened to the show communicated that fact, then the advertisers might be able to not worry about the "public interest" groups if the listeners who spoke up outnumbered the "public interest" groups who spoke up. Unfortunately we have not been pushed far enough to speak up so the minority looking after only the minority "interests" get their way.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease but money always wins. Us "dormant" listeners are the money. Let's start squeaking!

Apparently Kidd Chris is not allowed to work in Philadelphia until mid-july. There is only one station that concievably would hire him, 104.5- its a rock station owned by clear channel that does not have a morning host.
Shortybaang- I really do not wish any harm upon you and your loved ones. I was making a very mean joke which only had appeal to a limited audience. It's ironic that I would make such a hateful joke given what I've said here. It's ironic that you would take issue with it given what you've said here.
So if you guys want to keep Kidd Chris in Philadelphia- contact clear channell and make your case. I'll be sitting this one out- but wish you all the best of luck. If you get Kidd Chris back on the air I'll listen. I hope that there will be some kind of lesson learned here

Kidd Chris was absolutely the funniest radio show ever, I know this may seem like blasphemy, but I enjoyed his show more than Stern.
