Fumo: Pa. Would Allow Slavery

043008fumo.jpg
Although he dropped out of the race and will no longer be a State Senator come next year, Vince Fumo is still in Harrisburg, fighting for your kitchen.

And it appears he's going to say whatever is on his mind!

The remarks came during an Appropriations Committee hearing in Harrisburg on a bill that would define marriage as between a man and a woman – a measure Fumo opposes. "What you are advocating here is that we take away the rights of a minority. And I don't think that's right," Fumo told Gilbert Coleman, Jr., senior pastor of Freedom Christian Bible Fellowship in Philadelphia, during the hearing. ". . . If we introduced a bill on slavery, it might pass. That doesn't make it right."

"I doubt that sir," responded Coleman, who testified in support of the measure.

"Oh, don't bet on it in this General Assembly," the Philadelphia Democrat shot back. "I know some people up here, especially on a secret ballot, it would be almost unanimous."

Oh, man. In-effing-credible.

Way to stick it to Pennsyltucky, Vince. My respect for you just shot up a few points. It definitely needed a boost.

Fumo's right, of course. The fact that most legislators in Central Pa are Republicans means that they hate minorities and would like to exterminate them. Even the Democrats are really Republicans who are posing as Democrats and also hate minorities. They also hate Philadelphia, because we're a minority in this state, and that hatred will become obvious when they refuse to fund our court system and school district.

Looks like the state legislature has been taking lessons from Philadelphia City Council on how to stir up voters based on emotionally charged issues.

P.S. I hate goddamn politicians.

Seriously, though. Does anyone else get the impression that maybe voters were getting too interested in ethics, fiscally responsible spending and stuff, so city council passed a bunch of illegal laws they couldn't enforce and the state legislature started arguing about this shit in order to distract voters? It's really starting to piss me off.
