Heroic Environmentalists Save, Kill Crabs

032608crabs.jpg
Hooray! Jon Corzine has officially banned harvesting horseshoe crabs! And here's why:

a long-sought goal of environmental activists who say the crab's eggs are needed to feed dwindling numbers of western Atlantic red knot shorebirds.

Woo-hoo! Environmentalists saved the crabs so they could be killed. The food chain in action! It's pretty clear we've seen a 75 percent decline in red knots," Corzine said.

(Cf, http://www.phillyblog.com/philly/fishtown-northern-liberties-kensington/52009-neighborhood-zoning-meeting-wednesday-2-20-a.html, and also the zoning notices posted on the building, although some heathen ripped the one on the Girard side down...)

Sorry, "Crab Pad".

Also, apologies for the stupid long url, but I blame pw.com's blogging software.
