Your Chicken Prank Roundup

021208chickensyall.jpg
Ahh, yes, the chickens. Yesterday, somebody let 85 chickens loose in Northeast High School, leading to much hilarity and a bunch of kids writing "167" in the PWD comments. (Is this the 167th class or something?)

Everybody did a nice job reporting this important news story. NBC 10 talks with the school and confirms this was most likely a senior prank. The station also talks to students, who do Tweety Bird impressions for the camera:

"I actually did see a chicken, I did, in the basement. It was running and the security guard was chasing it," senior Satoria Bell said.

The floors were covered with chicken feed and chicken waste. Officials called in a farmer to help round up and remove the birds. Some witnesses said the chickens were laying eggs all over the building but most students said they didn't see anything.

"I didn't see any chickens," one student said.

The Inquirer this morning reports on the return of students to school, including a girl flashing the camera her homemade "I'm into chickens y'all" shirt. (Which is just kinda adorable.) The DN says the farm at Swenson helped clean up the chickens and details that, yes, chicken shit was all over the school.

The DN also gets my very own high school into the act with a sidebar of recent famous senior pranks, including one that happened a couple years after I graduated:

In 2002 in Bensalem, Bucks County, Penndot officials found "HGP" painted in 8-foot white letters across three lanes of southbound Interstate 95 and in smaller figures: "02". Holy Ghost Preparatory School, a Catholic High School for boys, was a quarter mile away from the scene of the alleged crime - so it didn't require Sherlock Holmes to suspect students were involved. But no one was ever caught for pulling that prank.

Oh, and some animal people say this was kinda mean to the animals. We all know this is true for virtually any situation, though.

Aw, that girl is really adorable with her shirt. I miss high school hijinx. Our senior class unleashed a plague of crickets on the school. Since it happened a little closer to Columbine, though, all the teachers thought it was an act of terrorism. I don't get how crickets could kill people though.

This reminds me of a story I heard when I was in high school about how a rival school brought a cow in and took it upstairs. Cows can't walk down stairs, so it was kind of a debacle.

But then again it could have been high school kids spouting a bunch of bullshit.

Two things: 1. I've heard the cow story told for about 15 different colleges/high schools.

2. Unfortunately, now I have that effing "I'm into nuggets, y'all" ad stuck back in my head, after finally exorcising it last week.

i like how this is tagged under "awesomeness".

it was deffinitly the best senior prank i ever heard of, though its being made into way to big of a deal. i understand the possible health hazzards but as far as i know, nobody was hurt. and i understand all the hard work it took to clean it up, but come on, nobody was hurt! 5 years from now, even 1 year from now, everyone will laugh about it. most people, including teachers, are already laughing about it. i do feel bad for all the cleaners and people who breathed in the smelly chicken poop though. but im going to have to say whoever PULLED IT OFF is a genius. oh, and

167 ROCCKSSSSSSS.
WOOOHOOOOOO.

You know what should be filed under "awesomeness?" The fact that our graduating seniors belive "hazards" is spelled with 2 z's.

I guess we should just attribute this prank to the good old boys, never meanin' no harm.

it was a funny day...i'm glad my school made the news and it wasn't because somebody got shot or stabbed.

I think Nigel's comment should also be tagged "awesomeness". Very well said.

Its not an original prank, its been done before, except the kids who did it got expelled because a lot of the chickens died accidently, from being kicked and trampled.
