Obamarama Stronger Than The Ron Paulcalypse

111407dict.jpg
Temple English professor Sue Wells watched last month's Democratic debate at Drexel, and the Temple News' blog asked whose supporters had the best cheers. The winner, of course, was Barack Obama:

According to Wells, the most creative chants came out of the Obama camp. Such gems as “1,2,3,4, let Obama end the war, 5,6,7,8, Obama is our candidate.”

Among the losers were Joe Biden ("Let's go Joe!") and none other than Ron Paul, whose supporters could only muster up this: “Roooon Paaauuuulll!" That's it? Come on, the Ron Paul supporters accused me of working for Rupert Murdoch. They can do better than just Ron Paul's name.

Geeze, just adapt the "Be Aggressive" chant: "We, the people, we, we, the people." Actually, that's kind of perfect. Man, the free market can work wonders!

Update: Ron Paul comment flood! The things people have posted don't quite work as chants, though. "Say yes to Dr. No" is a good slogan, but hard to chant. "Ron Paul Revolution -- Bring back the constitution" doesn't scan, but I suppose it's okay. (Adding "The" in front of Ron Paul would work, though.) And while "Stop the war in Iraq!, No war on Iran!" is something I'd agree with, it doesn't even rhyme at all! Geeze. Ron Paul wants to be president and his supporters don't even have a good rhyming slogan?

Bonus Update: Oh, there is a rap song, though! Oh, it is amazing. It rivals I Like Ike, You Like Ike, Everybody Likes Ike (For President), honest. But not even Ike's campaign ad called the previous president a "cokehead retard." Ahh.

Also good: "Hillary Clinton is big money Pimpin'."

Ron Paul's war chant is "Just come home."

Obama's war chant is "I can't pledge to have our troops home by 2012."

Until Obama pulls a Mike Gravel and does a five month fillibuster, you should stop pretending that Obama will end anything.

What is the counting for the number of years we will have "residual" troops there?

I do agree that fellow Paul fans shouldn't take Philadelphia Weekly so seriously, aren't you and City Paper the place people go for escort listings and transexual "adult" services? I thought the articles were just a front.

Obama supporters are people who are not smart enough to understand Ron Paul's message. Or don't care enough about the country to 'find out' what the politicians are really saying.

Posted by: Anonymous at November 14, 2007 05:40 PM

Try "Ron Paul revolution, Legalize the constitution: or "Say yes to Dr No" or "Stop the war in Iraq!, No war on Iran!" "Freedpm, Liberty and Peace". These are actual chants as witnessed at a rally.
Peace out.

My favorite Ron Paul chant

"We're inspired, NOT hired!"

Posted by: Phil Blanks at November 14, 2007 05:53 PM

ok..ok..we don't chant...the troops don't need it. What they do need is to COME HOME TO BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES! And Ron Paul supports that and the military supports Ron Paul.

Support our military; VOTE RON PAUL!!

Alan Greenspan agrees with Ron Paul's free market monetary policy:

"In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold. If everyone decided, for example, to convert all his bank deposits to silver or copper or any other good, and thereafter declined to accept checks as payment for goods, bank deposits would lose their purchasing power and government-created bank credit would be worthless as a claim on goods. The financial policy of the welfare state requires that there be no way for the owners of wealth to protect themselves.

This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard."

Obama Obama, he's so keen!
Troops in Iraq past 2013!

Posted by: Kyle at November 14, 2007 06:52 PM

To Obama's credit he didn't support the war [initially, then he voted for it over and over and over until the political winds changed and it was safe to vote against funding]. His vote on Lieberman-Kyl did clarify his position on the Iran War.

1, 2, 3, 4,
in 2013 Obama might end the war.

5, 6, 7, 8,
Obama is clean and articulate.

UPDATE: Ron Paul supporters have written more songs than obama supporters... That isnt the ONLY rap either.(though in my opinion its the best) There is also a raggae song, country song, folk songs. Why not link to those as well... Also might wanna find some from obama's camp. Maybe we can have a head to head who is loved by more song-writters?

There's more to political campaigns than chants and slogans. Ron Paul is doing well even if the chants -are- boring.

Oh, and to completely undermine my above point, I've actually heard "Ron Paul Revolution, Legalize the Constitution" used at a rally as a chant.

Posted by: N. Pannbacker at November 14, 2007 08:33 PM

You know.... I really do not like rap.. In fact I despise it. But that song was quite good.

How about this chant....

FREEDOM FOR ALL
VOTE RON PAUL

Or mabey

Restore the constitution.
Ron Paul is the solution.

Or mabey

Rudy is hitler
Hillary is stalin
Vote Ron Paul 2008
and see them all a falling.

I have a few more but they are not fit for un-censored eyes.

I dare you to find an obama rap that comes close to the quality of the RP rap.

YOU PEOPLE DONT GET IT HES MAKING FUN OF YOU

Posted by: chris at November 15, 2007 01:08 AM

hey stupid we do get it. BUT HES STILL WRONG!

Posted by: Ian at November 15, 2007 02:53 AM

Two words: Obama Girl

Posted by: thope at November 15, 2007 09:05 AM

Why are Ron Paul supporters so afraid to be made fun of? It's a joke people. He's not even the one who came up with the opinion, he's just reporting on an editorial from Temple. You guys need to chill.

"Obama supporters are people who are not smart enough to understand Ron Paul's message."

I feel really bad for the person who wrote this. I mean, if Obama really couldn't do anything for this country, why is he running? Why are you being so elitist and saying that only Ron Paul can fix this country and no one else can? This is such a polarized view, and its really sad.

Highlights of the latest Ron Paul Rants:

--I do agree that fellow Paul fans shouldn't take Philadelphia Weekly so seriously, aren't you and City Paper the place people go for escort listings and transexual "adult" services? I thought the articles were just a front. (YAY! Someone finally gets it!)

--Try "Ron Paul revolution, Legalize the constitution: or "Say yes to Dr No" or "Stop the war in Iraq!, No war on Iran!" "Freedpm, Liberty and Peace". These are actual chants as witnessed at a rally.
Peace out. (LOL ... Peace out! OK, Homey.)

-Luther's entire post ... who knew that Stephen A. Smith was a Ron Paul supporter?
