Ha Ha Everyone Left Riverside
![]() |
With the departure of so many people, the local economy suffered. Hair salons, restaurants and corner shops that catered to the immigrants saw business plummet; several closed. Once-boarded-up storefronts downtown were boarded up again. [...]
Numerous storefronts on Scott Street are boarded up or are empty, with For Sale by Owner signs in the windows. Business is down by half at Luis Ordonez’s River Dance Music Store, which sells Western Union wire transfers, cellphones and perfume. Next door, his restaurant, the Scott Street Family Cafe, which has a multiethnic menu in English, Spanish and Portuguese, was empty at lunchtime.
Riverside rescinded the law, but they already spent so much money defending the law in court they had to delay road repaving. But, hey, the Brazilian flags that "rankled more than a few longtime residents" are gone, so huzzah!

well, way to be clear on your views, Tanner. however, most actual studies show that immigrants contribute more to the tax base than they take back in services, meaning that they are a net benefit to towns that host them.
but it would sure be nice if the rest of us could get good healthcare, by whatever means! %^)

I am a resident of Riverside and it is no much nicer that they are gone. They were trashing our small town loitering in the streets all hours of the night, the local streets smelled of urine and was over run with trash, they were destroying the buildings that they were living in (10-12 people to a one or two bedroom apartment), etc. They were exhausting all of our resources and sending their children that were infected with TB to our schools. I couldn't be happier that their illegal asses are gone.

Wow. They have been brought to their knees. A few nail salons catering to their (mostly) illegal clientele go belly up (oddly, run by non-English speaking owners). Give it a few months. Check out the savings they will realize long term when their local hospital emergency room empties out and the illegals stop bleeding the health care system dry.
