Ryan Howard Does Well In Meaningless Game
![]() |
Ryan Howard, first baseman for the Phillies, continued his injury rehabilitation today by serving as the designated hitter for the single-A Lakewood Blue Claws.
On the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps, Howard ripped an RBI double to right-center field in the third inning against the Hagerstown Suns and clubbed a tie-breaking 3-run home run to left-center in the seventh.
Howard went 2 for 3 with a walk as the Blue Claws beat the Suns, 7-4.
I think this Howard kid might make it eventually. Maybe he can lead the Blue Claws to the championship this year.

Tho between you and me, their mascot, Buster, leaves much to be desired. He looks like a fried clam.

*clears throat*
The Lakewood BlueClaws RULE -- the stadium is literally like an hour away, it's clean, new and gorgeous, and if you're lucky (like we were) you get to see people like Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard play when they're like 14 years old.
