Just Wait 'Til The Christians Attack 'Weeds'

Joe Murray is one of the Bulletin's more rational columnists, perhaps the only one. He's a conservative, but unlike other Bulletin columnists, he writes an argument and tries to convince you of his point. Shocking, I know.

Still, there are times when it seems like he hasn't quite done all of his homework. For example, yesterday he wrote a column about Bill Maher making fun of Catholics. Apparently, Maher made fun of Catholics on his HBO show and they (and other Christians) are such an oppressed group they can't do anything about it.

Or can they?

Christians constitute over 80 percent of the American population and could potentially have a great amount of influence over Maher's advertisers.

Yes, I am sure Home Box Office is really worried all of Maher's advertisers are going to flee.

I am an Episcopalian which is in theory a Christian, but not "Christian" - since "Christian" is a bunch of loony Bible thumping, science hating, Pat Robertson loving, Republican voting, book burning, pro-war, jingoistic nutjobs.

I loved the show about the pill popping Episcopal priest who saw Jesus with the gay son and thought it was way too tame, since anything based on actual Episcopal Church goings on would be considered too absurd. The "Christian" brownshirts of course hated the show and got it canceled, because they were bigots while a few Episcopal churches and dioceses saw it as a nice teaching moment.

So what is the point of all this?
Those right wing conservative so called "Christians" are so stupid they don't even know HBO doesn't have ads. What a bunch of morons.

Amen. It sickens me the number of Jesus Junkies in America that have been sold on John Darby's extra-Biblical Rapture theory, so much so that they are enjoying and not protesting the destruction of this nation so that they can be "spirited away."

I ran into a local pastor, and he smugly asked me for a tithe, eventhough I had never been to his church before. I stated I already pay a 50% in taxes as a tithe to the poor. He grinned and stated: "Render unto Cesar."

It amazes me how Christians rationalize their own unprotested pillaging as being Godly.

Anyway, back to the subject, I think the recent grief from the controlled right that Maher has been getting has been more to do with his support of Ron Paul than his dirty jokes. Right now the work of Faux News and other government shrills is to label Paul as a fringe candidate and stifle any of his supporters lest the gospel of constitutional government awaken the people from their left-verus-right false paradigm.
