Inexplicable Image Of The Week

071206wtfjimgardner.jpg

An alert reader found this on the Wikipedia page of WCBS (New York) reporer Mary Calvi. The caption says it's from June 2006. And, yes, the man in that graphic appears to be longtime Action News reporter Jim Gardner.

A quick Internet search reveals, uh, no news stories about Jim Gardner being arrested in June 2006 -- and, I mean, come on, we would have heard of this, right? Right? So it's a Photoshop. But, uhh, what a random thing to do.

We'd call 6 ABC to get a comment, but as we all know, they don't talk to the press. (And I don't like to do any actual work.) Naturally.

UPDATE: This, and the followup, were hoaxes. But that seems actually stranger than if Jim Gardner had actually been arrested.

Jim Gardner is a fictional character played on televison by James Goldman, so of course you would not hear about Jim Gardner being arrested in June 2006. This is of course assuming any of this is true.

WCBS 2 SHOULD BE A BETTER NEWS OUTFIT THEN TO PERMIT THAT HOAX.JIM Gardner is one of the best if not the best newscaster on the east coast let alone Philadelphia. Hopefully Lisa Thomas Laury return to 6ABC she, Jim is Philly's 2 best newscasters follow by Renee Chenault-Fattah on NBC owned NBC 10. But WCBS should be better then to semi smare someone reputation.
