Howard Eskin for Phillies GM (if he leaves his radio show)

Last week I received a press release from 610 WIP announcing that Howard Eskin was vying to be the next GM of the Philadelphia Phillies. I thought it'd be a pretty good publicity stunt -- it featured a well-known media personality and was kind of amusing to boot -- but so far it only got a mention on Phillies.com, and it disappeared. (The only evidence I have of it being on there is this Google News search.)

Clearly, the publicity stunt has failed so far. In that spirit, I'm looking to usher in a new era of publicity stunts, where the puppies are cute and the Phillies always win the World Series.

I'm introducing the following petition:

We, the undersigned, petition that Howard Eskin be named general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, provided that he no longer broadcast his radio show on 610 WIP.

Think of the happiness it would bring this town? Without Eskin on the radio, the sports teams would win 100 percent of their games, the flowers would bloom even in winter and the SEPTA strike would be resolved in an instant. Plus, Howard really couldn't do a worse job than any of the other GMs in Phillies history, could he?

Please sign the petition here. It's for a better Philadelphia. And feel free to sign Howard's petition on WIP's website, too.

Update: It looks like late perennial Democratic presidential hopeful Adlai Stevenson has signed up! This is already turning out better than I thought!
