Breast option

091905feed.jpg Christine Flowers (who, apparently, is the Daily News' replacement for the syndicated Michelle Malkin) is all over the board today with great lines. It appears that our lawyer friend was meeting with a client when the client started breastfeeding.

This did not please Flowers none too much, and she decided to write a column about it, comparing breastfeeding in public to urinating in public. (She also compares it to secondhand smoke and playing loud music.)

She also meanders on the love of infants, like so:

Infants are magnificent creatures. While certain specimens may eventually turn out to be unpleasant (e.g., the ones who develop into adults like Paris Hilton and Michael Moore), the consensus is that they bring joy and hope for the future.

Without them, in fact, there would be no future. So it is important for us to do whatever we can to ensure their survival.

So, uhh, Christine Flowers doesn't like public breastfeeding, but she's anti-infanticide.

Uh, wouldn't the equivalent of men urinating in public be... women urinating in public? And wouldn't the biggest problem with public urination be public health with respect to the resulting unsanitary conditions?

Her mention of Paris Hilton and Michael Moore in the same sentence tells me all I need to know about her. She's obviously an intolerant prude looking for something to get offended by. My advice to her is to move to Kansas.

I'll also say I think the incident she alleges occuring in her office in the beginning of the article is a total fabrication. Publishing in a newspaper a partial account of a meeting with a client may not technically be a violation of attorney-client privilege, but it's certainly no way to run a law office. Despite the lack of intelligent thought in her column, I'm guessing Ms. Flowers isn't stupid enough to spill the beans on a client in the Daily News. No, her column reads like she's taking a page from Cosmo writers who create conversations, friends, and situations out of thin air for use in their pieces.
